Happy New Year!
Welcome
to the start of 2020.
As we enter a new year and a new decade we are going to
begin with a spiritual health check. They reckon that gym attendance is really
high at the beginning of a new year as people go on a health kick after the
excesses of Christmas and try to start with positive resolutions. But then the
reality kicks in and after a few weeks the numbers drop off and return to normal
as people give up and return to old habits. No matter how long we have been on
our journey of faith it can be easy to fall into habits. Much like a car has an
annual MOT so it is important for us to take stock of where we are in our Every
Day faith. It might be good to try something new or to tweak some of our
current practises. Both the New Year and the season of Lent can be helpful in
this regard. So can I encourage you to join me in a spiritual health check to
develop our holy habits as every day disciples of Jesus Christ.
Every blessing,
Steve.

Principal Services – April to June
Dear Friends,
Happy Easter! As
we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, his conquering of death and hell, we
join with Christians the world over proclaiming Alleluia, Christ is Risen, He
is Risen indeed, Alleluia!
The theme of
Discipleship continues each month as we move into the summer months and share a
sermon series across the parish based on St Paul’s letter to the Christians
living at Philippi, ‘A life worth living.’
Every Blessing,
Steve.

Principal Services — January - March
Happy New Year! Welcome to the start of 2019.
2019 is going to be a year for us to focus on the whole area of Discipleship. As we meet week by week my hope is that we will grow in our discipleship and be equipped to live our lives as Every Day Disciples of Jesus.
The meeting place is the training place for the market place. In other words what we learn together in church on Sunday should equip us to live our lives for Jesus in our Monday to Saturday.
Each month we will focus on a different topic to give us opportunity to explore it in detail and also cover some practical application.
My prayer for each one of us is that we might grow in our own discipleship in order that we might grow new disciples as we reach out in loving service to our community.
Every blessing,
Steve

Principal Services – a Message from the Rector
Dear Friends,
Happy Easter! As
we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, his conquering of death and hell we
join with Christians the world over proclaiming Alleluia, Christ is Risen, He is
Risen indeed, Alleluia!
We return in our
All Age services to looking at what we can learn from Women & Men of Faith
in the Bible. We are fortunate to welcome some guest preachers, Rob Hay is the
Head of Learning, Rachel Bennetts is the Prior of the New Monastic Community
and Lusa Ngoy is the BAME Mission & Ministry Enabler. It will be good to
hear from them and learn more about their roles.
Later we turn
our attention to the Church. Following the success of last year's series I
Believe in the Church we return to the second half of David Wastson's book and
look at the different things we do as Church. This series will run across both
churches again so we can look forward to a variety of preachers on some
important topics.
Every Blessing,
Steve.

Our vicar writes:
Dear Friends,
In these three months we will be working through our latest sermon series based on the 10 Commandments. In these timeless values we find joy and hope for living our lives today.
For our All Together services we continue to focus on Men & Women of faith, different characters from the Bible that inspire us. In August we look forward to hearing about all that took place during our Holiday Club.
In September we welcome the Mayor of Oadby & Wigston, along with his guests, for his civic service. A date for your diaries, on Sunday 30th October Bishop Martyn will be joining us for a special evening service where he will be confirming some of our young people. If you would like to be confirmed please speak to Steve Bailey, Gillian Gamble or Lou McGoldrick about this.
But these three months start with a celebration as we welcoming Gillian's ministry as a priest among us, giving thanks for God's calling upon her life.
May we know God's hand upon each one of us as we follow Him together.
God Bless
Steve

are privileged to have such a passionate and gifted speaker to encourage us in
our Evangelism — not to be missed!
As Christmas approaches we come again to

The Vicar writesDear Friends,
It is a great delight to welcome Gillian into the parish as she begins her curacy with us. Do make her feel welcome and encourage her as she settles in. Along with our ‘Hello’s’ we also sadly say ‘Goodbye’ to Priyanka on the 19th July as her year as an Intern comes to an end. It is hoped that following the success of Priyanka’s time with us we may have another Intern starting in September.
As we continue our study through Mark’s gospel we take a couple of breaks; on the 9th August following a 3 day Holiday Club where we hope to be able to share with you all that we have been up to. Also on the 6th September we welcome a speaker from Tearfund who will update us on their work we support, particularly through the Connected Church project PAG in Uganda. On the 23rd August we all meet together at St Peter’s where the churches in Great Glen and Burton Overy will also be joining us.
Looking further ahead I am delighted that on 29th November we have James Lawrence of CPAS coming to speak, not to be missed!
God Bless
Steve

What's Going On? Principal Services – July - September
See our Programme - hereAs the summer term draws to its end and the holidays
begin we bring to an end our sermon series on Spiritual
Gifts.
During the following weeks I am delighted that we have
a variety of speakers at St Paul's. Along with some home
grown talent we are also able to hear from those we
support by praying and giving as we are updated on their
work.
St Paul's hosts the Joint Parish Communion at the end of
August and the following week we are privileged to
welcome Stuart Windsor from Christian Solidarity
Worldwide to speak about the Persecuted Church.
As the Autumn term begins so we start a new sermon
series called 'Life on the Frontline'. Together we will be
exploring the environment where God has placed us
outside of the Church and how we can bring a positive
Christian presence into those places. As a church we
want to support and encourage everyone in their
frontline ministry. There will be opportunity to follow up
on this teaching with Home Group studies – do join a
group if you are not already part of one, speak to myself
or Graham Woodard to join one.
Yours In Christ,
Steve

What are our Services, April - June ?
Happy Easter!
Use this link to see our new programme.
We begin this term by celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, his conquering of sin, his over coming of evil and his victory over death. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
We then remember Christ's Ascension into heaven to be with his Father and then the sending of the Holy Spirit.
On Pentecost Sunday we will be starting a new sermon series focusing on Spiritual Gifts. My hope is that this will build us up and encourage us a the Body of Christ in this place. It is as we all play our part together, working to our strengths and using our God given gifts in the power of the Spirit that we can see our body strengthen and grow.
My prayer is that together we will all discover our gifts and have opportunities to use them to the glory of God.
Yours In Christ,
Steve

Principal Services – January - March
Happy New Year! Welcome to the start of 2013. At the start of a New Year people often make resolutions or promises to try and better themselves. We are going to start this year by focusing on some promises of God that will never change or fail. In the Old Testament God made a number of Covenants, or promises, with his people. A Covenant is binding upon those involved and cannot be changed.Details of our new programme
Join us as we focus on these 8 Covenant Names of God and hold onto the truth found in them that still applies to our lives today.
Yours In Christ,
Steve

Programme of our Main Services – July - September
As we journey through these next three months we begin by continuing our Sermon Series on The Lord's Prayer. Hopefully, by now, you are beginning to discover the rich treasures contained in this very familiar prayer. In August we have a couple of 'stand alone' services with their own particular topic and then we begin a new series of teaching. The book of James is famously known to be described by Martin Luther as 'an Epistle of straw'. This may be because James is a very practical book and focuses on the importance of what we do and how we live our life. This can detract from the grace of God which is freely given and cannot be earnt. However, our faith should govern how we live our lives. As James himself says 'faith without deeds is dead' (2.26)
The 30th September is Back to Church Sunday and will present an ideal opportunity for you to invite friends and family to join us.
At St Paul's we welcome people at any time and are especially delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Oadby & Wigston at our service on 8th July.
Yours In Christ,
Steve Bailey (Vicar)
